An editor-at-large for National Geographic Traveler, Andrew McCarthy was named the 2010 “Travel Journalist of the Year” by the Society of American Travel Writers. In 2011 he received the "Grand Prize" from the North American Travel Journalists Association, and was awarded a 2011 Folio Award. He has four times been cited for “notable” work in the Best American Travel series. Andrew also is an actor known for diverse roles in more than two-dozen films including The Joy Luck Club, Pretty in Pink, St, Elmo’s Fire, and cult favorites Weekend at Bernie’s and Mannequin. John Timpane, writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, interviews Andrew, with book signings following at the on-site Penn Book Center.
